Dear EMA Members,
The European Midwives Association (EMA) is pleased to announce a call for
nominations for its Expert Advisory Committees, which play a vital role in advancing
midwifery across Europe. Each committee will consist of four members, except of the
Grant Oversight Committee, which will have three members. In addition, a
designated EMA Board member, as outlined below, will serve as the fifth member of
each committee. We invite national midwifery associations to nominate qualified
candidates for these positions.
Committees and Their Purposes
1. Education Advisory Committee
Board Member: Pernilla
Purpose: To advise on curriculum development, accreditation standards,
and continuing education for midwives across Europe.
2. Regulation Advisory Committee
Board Member: Melania
Purpose: To provide guidance on regulatory issues, licensure requirements,
and professional standards for midwives.
3. Research Advisory Committee
Board Member: Malin
Purpose: To promote and support research in midwifery, including
identifying research priorities, securing funding opportunities, and ensuring
ethical standards.
4. Practice Advisory Committee
Board Member: Marlene
Purpose: To enhance clinical practice, develop practice guidelines, and
address clinical challenges in midwifery, while also promoting leadership
development among midwives.
5. Ethics Advisory Committee
Board Member: Bernadette
Purpose: To provide guidance on ethical practices, professional conduct, and
decision-making frameworks in midwifery.
6. Grant Oversight Committee
Board Members: Viktoria (President) and Pernilla (Treasurer)
Purpose: To analyze and review all grants before they are accepted,
renewed, or continued, ensuring alignment with EMA’s objectives, financial
health, and ethical considerations.
7. Strategic Planning Committee
Board Member: Burcu
Purpose: To support the long-term strategic vision and growth of the EMA,
advising on key initiatives, partnerships, and resource allocations to ensure
the continued success and relevance of midwifery in Europe.
Nomination Requirements
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years in midwifery or a related
field. - Leadership: Demonstrated leadership in education, regulation, clinical
practice, or ethics within national or international midwifery organizations. - Academic Contributions: Experience in research, publications, or
professional development activities. - Commitment: Active involvement in initiatives that advance midwifery in
Europe. - Language: Proficiency in English.
Nomination Process
Nominations must be submitted by 19 January 2025 using the attached nomination
form. Please include:
1. A completed nomination form.
2. A CV highlighting the nominee’s relevant experience and qualifications.
3. A letter of support from the nominating national midwifery association,
confirming their support and commitment to the nominee’s participation.
Selection Process
The EMA Board will review all nominations and appoint committee members based
on their qualifications and expertise.
